Although the couple started off as a bit tense but still showing promise, their relationship slowly deteriorates until they feel that they're not able to have enough. Then they give up. A lot of people get divorced in hopes of "shaking up their marriage" or "scaring their spouse to change their ways. Both parties have to make it appear as if the situation is okay. The other party can't just accept the status-quo. When you're separated, it becomes pretty obvious that there needs to be change or your marriage may be over. With good intentions, people are able to enter into this process. However, real change is challenging. Sometimes it may require outside help. Not everyone can or wants to see it happen or maintain it. Others don't want to sit and wait for changes to take place. They are angry and believe that no matter how long they wait around it will never alter to their preferences, which is why it's the waste of everyone's time to sit around waiting.
